Founded in 2019, the Global Health Fund (GHF) seeks to invest in companies that develop innovative medical treatments and therapies for neglected diseases in underserved areas. GHF takes a hands-on, in-the-field approach to its investments, working directly with portfolio companies to ensure that their life-saving products get to those who need them the most. GHF was founded by a team of early pioneers in private fund social impact investing.

Dr. Curt LaBelle, GHF’s founder, also serves as managing partner of the Global Health Investment Fund (GHIF), a $108 million social impact investment fund structured and backed by the Gates Foundation and JP Morgan in 2012. GHIF is the first example of a global health investor with a double bottom line of improving lives while also earning attractive returns for investors. Under Dr. LaBelle’s leadership, GHIF successfully invested in companies that are improving the lives of millions of people with conditions such as cataract-induced blindness, cholera, and HIV.

Today, GHF seeks to carry on the mission of GHIF while expanding the reach of its impact investing model. GHF makes social impact investment more accessible by opening its fund to both individual investors with only a few hundred dollars as well as traditional institutional investors.

GHF has further expanded its fund’s reach by investing in public companies. This opens up more opportunities for impact and allows investors liquidity. GHF uses a detailed private equity or venture capital due diligence method to identify opportunities.

Ultimately, GHF’s experienced team invests with three goals in mind: generating measurable impact that saves and improves lives, delivering promising financial returns for investors, and creating a culture of direct engagement through which investors are able to see the impact their investments generate.
